It's nearly bedtime in the city of Newcastle and instead of going straight to bed, a little girl and her Dad go on a mission to catch the moon.
If you've ever tried to follow the moon, you know it doesn't stay still!
As they drive around town, following the moon, they see Newcastle transformed by the magic of imagination into a magical place where anything can happen.
The story behind the story.
Chasing the moon is inspired by (author) Liesel's husband and daughter and their invented past time of moon chasing created when her daughter couldn't sleep and her dad would take her for a drive. Before leaving there would be special requests to drive by the 'castles', which were Christchurch Cathedral and Newcastle Town Hall. If there are 'castles' out there at night, what else could there be?
More than a story.
Chasing the moon invites you and your child to join the adventure and experience the fun and adventure yourselves. All the scenes from the book are recognizable Newcastle landmarks including Newcastle Town Hall, Civic Park, Fort Scratchley, Newcastle Harbour and Newcastle Art Gallery.
We have created a map included in the book so you can follow the characters' journey and maybe find some more magical transformations for yourselves!
