The Mountain Gorilla belongs to the family of the great apes. The fur of the mountain gorilla is longer and thicker than that of other gorilla types. It enables them to live in colder climate. The fur colour is black, whereas older males show a silver-grey colouring at the lower back, thus the name "silver-back".
